Starting in March of 2018, I have been running a series of Trail/Mountain Races to raise National awareness about Veteran Suicide, P.T.S.D. and Disabilities. In doing so, I hope to also to raise money for medical and mental health services for those who desperately need it but cannot get Veterans Affairs Coverage and Services. We aim to Reform the current Veterans Affairs Healthcare System for all Veterans.
In the time that is has taken to type this message 22+ Veterans have committed Suicide. Veterans die due to PTSD, medical and mental health related issues, and lack of financial and medical/mental health services. As a Combat Veteran who served in the US Army / National Guard for 7 1/2 years and also someone who has battled the Veterans Affairs System for a decade, I have personally seen the devastation that untreated medical and mental health conditions cause, not only for the Veteran but for their families and friends as well.
On both a personal and professional level I have witnessed that with treatment recovery is possible.
